EXPLORING THE PREVALENCE OF WHITE COAT HYPERTENSION AMONG ADULT PRIMARY CARE ATTENDEES: A COMPREHENSIVE ANALYSIS

Chun Geok Hong , International Medical University, Malaysia

Abstract

This study presents a comprehensive analysis of the prevalence of white coat hypertension among adult primary care attendees. White coat hypertension, characterized by elevated blood pressure readings in clinical settings but normal blood pressure levels outside of these environments, poses diagnostic and management challenges in clinical practice. The study examines data from a large cohort of adult primary care attendees, analyzing blood pressure measurements obtained in clinical settings and through ambulatory monitoring. By comparing the prevalence of white coat hypertension between these two modalities, the study sheds light on the magnitude of the phenomenon and its implications for hypertension diagnosis and management. Additionally, factors contributing to the occurrence of white coat hypertension are explored, including patient demographics, clinical characteristics, and health outcomes. The findings contribute to a better understanding of white coat hypertension prevalence and inform strategies for its recognition and management in primary care settings.
